At SafeGuard, we offer a complete range of glass and glazing solutions, all manufactured in-house at our dedicated facility in Peterborough.
With decades of industry experience, we combine expert craftsmanship, high-performance materials, and reliable installation to deliver glazing systems that perform beautifully, in homes, heritage properties, and commercial spaces alike.
Whether you’re upgrading double glazing, designing a new shop front, or specifying bespoke glass units, our team will help you find the perfect balance of performance, design, and efficiency.
An insulated glass unit, or IGU, is the sealed double or triple glazed panel that sits inside a window or door frame, made from two or three panes held apart by a spacer with an insulating gap between them.
We manufacture insulated glass units to size at our Peterborough facility, which gives us full control over quality, accuracy and lead times. Our units meet or exceed current Building Regulations and suit replacement glazing, extensions and new builds.
You can usually replace just the glass if the window frames are still in good condition, which is a cheaper fix when a unit has misted up, cracked or no longer performs as it should.
Because we make our replacement glass for windows in-house, we can produce units to the exact size of your existing frames and upgrade them to a better thermal or acoustic specification at the same time.
If the frames themselves are failing, new windows may be the better long-term option, and we can advise you on that at survey.
Secondary glazing is a good alternative to double glazing when you can't or don't want to replace the original windows, such as in listed buildings, conservation areas and rented homes.
It adds a slim second window on the inside of the existing frame, which cuts draughts and heat loss and is particularly effective at reducing noise from busy roads.
Because it sits inside and can be removed, consent is often easier to obtain than for replacement windows, although you should still check with your conservation officer first.
