Frequently Asked Questions
You might find the answer you need in one of the options below.
A: Installation time depends on the size and type of project. For a typical house we often complete a full window replacement in 1–2 days. Larger projects (e.g., full retail frontage or curtain-wall) may take several days. Your project schedule will be confirmed during the survey and planning stage.
A: Safe-Guard issues an insurance-backed guarantee through the Glass & Glazing Federation (GGF) for qualifying installations, and we allow customers to register for their warranty at completion. We’ll provide full warranty details in the contract and ensure you receive all supporting documentation.
A: We cover installations in and around our Peterborough base, including South Lincolnshire, Rutland, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and surrounding areas. If you are outside these zones please contact us and we’ll check whether we can accommodate your project.
A: Yes. All windows, doors and glazing systems we supply and install are designed to be compliant with current UK Building Regulations (Parts L, F, etc.). If you’re doing a new build or major renovation we will ensure the product and installation meet the appropriate performance requirements and issue the relevant certification
A: Aluminium systems offer:
- Slimmer sightlines for a more modern look.
- Better durability and strength (especially for large openings).
- Greater design flexibility (e.g., wide spans, custom colours). Meanwhile our PVCu systems are budget-friendly and offer excellent value for smaller windows or standard configurations. During your survey we’ll help you choose which suite best suits your property and budget.
A: Absolutely. Our heritage glazing range (often manufactured in-house) is purpose-designed to replicate the appearance of original windows (sightlines, profiles, furniture) while delivering modern performance. We’ll work with conservation officers or architects as needed and provide the documentation required for listed-status work.
A: Insulated Glass Units (IGUs) consist of sealed units (double or triple glazing) replacing existing glazing for improved insulation.
Secondary glazing is an additional pane installed behind your existing window to improve insulation or acoustics, without removing the original frame, ideal for heritage or rental properties. Safe-Guard offers both, and will advise the best solution during your survey.
A: Yes. We operate a manufacturing facility in Peterborough where we produce bespoke glass & glazing units, this gives us full control over performance, quality and lead-time. By manufacturing in-house we can tailor to custom sizes, shapes and specifications that might not be possible from standard off-the-shelf suppliers.
A: Yes. We work with both domestic and commercial clients, including shop fronts, curtain walling, fire-rated glazed screens, internal glass partitions and more. Our commercial team will handle specification, design, installation and hand-over for your project.
